Yingchao Zhang graduated in Industrial Design from Jilin University in 2002 and got Master and Ph.D degrees from the Jilin University, China in 2006 and 2010, respectively in Auto-body Engineering and Vehicle Engineering. After graduated from Jilin University, he became a teaching assistant in the Department of auto-body Engineering, Jilin University, China in 2002. He was then promoted to Assistant Professor and Associate Professor, finally Professor in 2016. He became the director of Jilin University PACE Centre since 2010, now changed to IDEEA Centre, associate head of Auto-body Engineering Department since 2020. He is also professor of State Key Laboratory of Automotive Simulation and Control , Jilin University; member in the innovative team, Postdoctoral Fellow of Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Bionic Engineering in Jilin University. He is also Postdoctoral Fellow named "Hong Kong Scholars "of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2013 to 2015. His research interests mainly include car design, road vehicle aerodynamics, Wind tunnel experiments, Auto-body digital design and Engineering analysis. He has published more than 80 journal and reference papers , 50 journal paper indexed by SCI or EI; 10 patents and edited the book named "simulation technology of road vehicle aerodynamics"and "race car aerodynamics"; Principal Investigator of 46 scientific research projects , including the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is the chief course instructors of undergraduate and graduate students’ subjects- "car aerodynamic design ", "automotive model making", "Introduction to Automobile" and "Automotive Wind Tunnel Experiments".
